What Is Registered Massage Therapy (RMT)

Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) is a form of health care that involves the assessment and treatment of soft tissue and joints of the body. RMTs are trained and regulated healthcare professionals who use a variety of techniques to manipulate the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia (the connective tissue that surrounds muscles) to improve function, reduce pain, and promote relaxation.

What Our Massage Therapists Offer

Swedish massage: a soothing and relaxing form of massage that uses long strokes, kneading, and circular motions to increase circulation and promote relaxation.

Deep tissue massage: a more intense form of massage that uses deep pressure and slow strokes to target the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue.

Trigger point therapy: a form of massage that uses focused pressure to release tension in specific areas of the muscle.

Myofascial release: a form of massage that uses sustained pressure to release tension in the fascia.

Graston technique: a form of manual therapy that uses specialized stainless steel instruments to massage and break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions.

Exercise therapy: the use of physical activity to promote health and well-being, prevent injury, and improve the function and performance.

Postural education: recommendations on how to maintain proper posture and alignment of the body in order to reduce pain, improve function, and prevent injury.

RMTs Treat The Following Conditions

  • Musculoskeletal pain (such as low back pain, neck pain, and headaches)
  • Stress and tension
  • Postural strains
  • Repetitive strain injuries
  • Sports injuries
  • Pre and post-surgical care
  • Pregnancy-related conditions

RMTs use a holistic approach to treatment, taking into consideration the patient’s overall health, medical history, and lifestyle. They work in partnership with other healthcare professionals, including our chiropractors and physiotherapists, to provide the most effective care for each patient.

If you are seeking relief from pain, stress, or injury, or if you simply want to improve your overall health and well-being, a visit to a registered massage therapist may be beneficial for you.
