What is Prolotherapy?

Prolotherapy, or proliferation therapy, focuses on the treatment of ligament and joint injuries. Prolotherapy involves the injection of a solution, typically consisting of dextrose or other irritants, into the affected area. This promotes the proliferation of collagen, leading to local inflammation and increased blood supply and connective tissue regeneration. This treatment can be used for damaged ligaments and joints. While some people find significant relief after just one session, many will need 2-3 treatments to get best results.

Hyaluronic acid injections, also known as viscosupplementation, are used to help manage pain and stiffness associated with osteoarthritis. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the synovial fluid inside your joints. It helps lubricate and cushion the joint, allowing the joint surfaces to move more smoothly. With osteoarthritis, the quality and amount of hyaluronic acid within the joint can change. Viscosupplementation involves injecting hyaluronic acid directly into the affected joint with the goal of improving lubrication, reducing pain and improving joint movement.
